Web accessibility and usability are a necessity of web design. In the majority of cases the point of a website is to allow all users to access relevant information from the site as quickly and as easily as possible. If a website is failing to do that on any level then there is an accessibility or usability problem.

There is a general perception that website accessibility is about complying to various technical standards. Certainly this is an issue, but in order to understand fully whether a site is usable and accessible it is essential to observe how it is used.
